The Young Ones - 2011

It is so fascinating watching the little joeys begin to interact with each other with play fights, chasey and running back to mum when they need too.  I have observed that mum's take their little ones off to a quiet spot to do this and I assume it is to keep them safe as they can get very clumsy and if they did knock into a bigger kangaroo they may end up injured.  The way the mums and bubs interact just seems no different than the human family.  Parents watch their children when they are in the playground and mixing with other children.

 Light Boy

This boy has a lot of white on his face, chest, arms and legs that is hard to capture on camera.  He is very light in colour and if you know about the Western Grey Kangaroos, they are a very dark grey, with lots of brown colouring.  They are also known as 'sootie face' because of their very dark muzzle.   This boy will either go lighter in colour or darken up as the years go by.  He is the lightest joey I have ever seen in all the years I have lived here.  Very pretty boy.
